Feedback on EASA Easy Access Rules
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has been gathering feedback on the usefulness of its Easy Access Rules, which it first produced in 2017 as part of the agency’s eRules project.
The Easy Access Rules were developed as part of the project’s larger goal to provide a single, integrated source of aviation rules. They have been made available in both PDF and online formats (mobile friendly). As it does regularly – last in 2021 – EASA has been gathering data to evaluate their usefulness and impact on work efficiency.
The survey closed on Oct 20. Its purpose was to:
- Gather data on use of the Easy Access Rules‘ online format, with some questions about other formats.
- Collect feedback on the Easy Access Rules, which will serve as input for improving the outputs of the eRules project.
- Solicit input from CAAs and industry end users.
Survey response will remain confidential and reported only in an aggregate format. ARSA members are encouraged to support EASA’s review in two ways:
If you have utilized the Easy Access Rules, but did not get to complete the survey, contact the survey team. Questions about the survey or its administration can be submitted online; users may also reference the EUSurvey FAQ resource.

1/24/17 - EASA’s First eRules Publication Available
January 24, 2017
On Jan. 20, the European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) eRules project issued its first publication, “Easy Access Rules for Continuing Airworthiness.”
The EASA eRules project is being implemented in close cooperation with the agency’s member states and industry organizations. It aims to be a comprehensive system for the drafting, sharing and storing of rules – a single source for regulations applicable to European airspace users. In addition to online access, the project will attempt to implement improvements to the rulemaking system through automation, consultation and international comparisons of regulatory regimes.
“Easy Access Rules for Continuing Airworthiness” was developed in 2016 as part of the first of ten modules planned for the project. It is organized to present each implementing rule along with its related guidance material. It covers all the annexes of Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014 (e.g. part-M, part-145, part-66, part-147, part-T) and offers advanced navigation features through links and bookmarks as well as identification of General Aviation alleviations.
As part of the eRules intitiatve, EASA will update the document “within a short time” or rule or supporting material amendment. In 2017, the agency will work on the second eRules module, which will include initial airworthiness and airports.

6/24/14 - EASA Launches Applicant Portal
June 24, 2014
Some EASA forms may now be submitted online. The “applicant portal” is accepting initial and change applications from persons located in the EU or associated member states for major and minor repairs, supplemental type certificates, derivatives and European Technical Standard Order Authorisations.
EASA forms not eligible for online submission, including the U.S. maintenance organization initial certification and renewal form (EASA Form 9), are still available in the EASA document library: http://easa.europa.eu/document-library/application-forms.
4/15/14 - EASA Launches Updated Website
April 15, 2014
On Monday, April 14 EASA launched their new and updated website. The new design offers a greater user interface and enhanced navigation capabilities. However, some links you may normally use are no longer functional. To help you navigate their new website please make sure all of your bookmarks are updated. Common links include (click on each title below to be directed to the appropriate page):
