ARSA Requests More Time to Investigate Testing Policies
April 24, 2014
On April 23rd, ARSA followed the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Airlines for America (A4A) in requesting the FAA extend the comment period to the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rule Making (ANPRM) concerning foreign drug and alcohol testing laws and the aviation industry’s best practices for preventing employees from misusing controlled substances.
ARSA recognizes the sheer complexity of the issue, which crosses numerous regulatory borders around the world, and wants to assist the FAA in ensuring that stakeholders have sufficient time to fully analyze current laws and business practices. ARSA took action and submitted a request to extend the May 16, 2014 deadline for 120 days so the FAA has access to the most useful comments and resources when evaluating this issue.
ARSA is now coordinating with other industry groups, stay tuned as we continue to work this issue on behalf of the aviation maintenance industry.
