House Passes “Clean” FAA Extension

On Sept. 13, the House approved a clean extension of funding and operating authority for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The bill (H.R. 2887), which extends agency programs at current funding levels through Jan. 31, 2012, with no policy changes, now moves to the Senate. With the 21st extension of VISION 100, the nation’s most recent aviation law, expiring on Sept. 16, urgent action is necessary to prevent another shutdown of the FAA.

Both the House and the Senate have approved new, multiyear FAA reauthorization bills, but negotiations between the two chambers to iron out their differences between has stalled.

Click here to urge your senators to pass H.R. 2887 today.
