On April 7, Senate leadership appointed conferees to serve as the chamber’s chief negotiators to reconcile differences between the House (H.R. 658) and Senate (S. 223) passed FAA reauthorization bills in the upcoming conference committee discussions. House leadership has yet to appoint its conferees.
After the House names its conference committee members, lawmakers must agree upon language for a final FAA reauthorization bill. Following negotiations, both chambers will need to approve the final product, known as a conference report.
The Senate conferees are Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Barbra Boxer (D-CA), Bill Nelson (D-FL), John Ensign (R-NV), Jim DeMint (R-SC), John Rockefeller (D-WV), Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX), Max Baucus (D-MT), and Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
ARSA members should contact lawmakers to urge them to ensure the ARSA-endorsed maintenance provisions in H.R. 658 prevail in conference. Click here to send a note to your lawmakers urging their support for the MRO industry.
