ARSA Responds to One-Sided Reporting

News21, a group of student journalists, recently released a series of reports attacking the safety record of the aviation maintenance industry. Collectively titled “Travelling Dangerously in America,” the articles have appeared in the Washington Post and on MSNBC.com.

Unfortunately, News21 inaccurately portrays contract maintenance and misleads readers about the industry’s stellar safety record. In its reporting, News21 chose not to focus on the facts; rather, the articles mislead readers by highlighting anomalies.

As a result, ARSA Executive Vice President Christian A. Klein delivered a rebuttal to News21’s director, requesting the organization revisit its analysis and address the article’s inaccuracies. ARSA also submitted brief letters to the editors of the Washington Post and MSNBC expressing the association’s concerns about publishing such a biased report.
