ARSA Applauds Clean FAA Extension

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, Sept. 13, 2011 — Aeronautical Repair Station Association Executive (ARSA) Director Sarah MacLeod released the following statement praising House passage of the Surface and Air Transportation Programs Extension Act of 2011 (H.R. 2887):

“ARSA applauds the House–passed Surface and Air Transportation Programs Extension Act, a clean, four month FAA extension. The Association urges Senators to follow suit before the expiration of current FAA authority on Sept. 16.

“However, both chambers must come together to finalize a new, multiyear FAA authorization law. Congress’ failure to enact long-term, stable FAA reauthorization legislation is costing real jobs and undermining the competiveness of the U.S. aviation industry.

“ARSA stands ready to assist and support Congress whenever it decides to do its job and approve a new long-term FAA reauthorization measure.”

ARSA’s legislative team is available to the media for comment and background on the FAA debate in Congress. To speak with a member of ARSA’s team, please contact Jason Langford, communications manager.
